On Friday, 14 Jan, the Bevica team had the great pleasure of joining over 75 members of the wine trade at the Vintners’ Company Wine Trade Lunch at the magnificent surrounds of Vintners’ Hall.

The lunch was held in aid of The Drinks Trust, the community organisation for the drinks industry. Since 1886, The Drinks Trust (formerly The Benevolent) has provided care and support to the people who form the drinks industry workforce, both past and present. The Drinks Trust provides individuals with services across vocational, well-being, financial and practical support. These services are intended to assist with and improve the circumstances of those who receive them.

Speaking at the lunch was Troy Christensen, Chair of the Drinks Trust and CEO of Enotria & Coe. In his speech, Troy referenced how difficult the last two years have been for the drinks industry and, as a result, the importance of the work of the Drinks Trust.

He went on to say that the Trust had seen an unprecedented level of activity in the last year and that the Trust had risen to the challenge with new initiatives not only to help people who have found themselves in hardship but also to try and prevent people getting into that position in the first place.

Support available through the Drinks Trust includes Grants and Financial Support for those experiencing financial difficulties as well as the new Wellness Services offering a range of health and well-being services, including talking therapies, to the drinks industry workforce.

Reconnecting with industry friends after two difficult years

Speaking about the event, Pippa Odell, Managing Director of TVision Technology, the business that delivers the Bevica solution, said: “This is the third time that I have attended this event and it is wonderful to see so many supporting the charity. Events at Vintners’ Hall are always spectacular, but it’s heartening to see so many make the effort to support the work of the Drinks Trust after a difficult two years for the hospitality sector.

“One thing that really stood out for me today was the increased number of women who attended the lunch in comparison to previous years. It’s a clear demonstration that the drinks industry has a more diversified workforce. I think that the appointment of Ann Hill as the first female Master of the Vintners’ Company in July 2021 is a reflection of the change and demonstrates the great opportunities for Women in Wine.”
