With the arrival of the Business Central 2023 Wave 1 update earlier this month, we asked some of our dedicated and hard-working delivery team to tell us which new features they thought would be the most beneficial for Business Central users. First up is Jason Bradley, one of our Lead Implementation Consultants, with his Top Ten List.

  1. Posting Preview on Additional Journals/Documents; Item Journal, Transfer Order, Job Journal – This new feature will help users avoid making mistakes. Users can review the types of entries that will be created when posting item journals or other inventory documents before they commit the changes to their database.
  2. Posting Multiple Transfer Orders are the same time – Users can now select multiple non-posted documents in a list to post them immediately or in a batch according to a schedule.
  3. Statistical Accounts – this new feature, which is very popular with the TVision team, allows users to add additional statistical metrics when posting G/L transactions, thus increasing the quantity and quality of the data that can be analysed for reporting purposes.
  4. Pivot Table View (Analysis Mode) – This is another big favourite with our consultants. Users and data analysts can now analyse data directly in BC without the need to open the page in Excel or run a report.
  5. Adjust Exchange Rate by Summary or Detail – this is a great feature for companies who operate in multiple countries or regions as it allows accountants additional control over how they adjust exchange rates.
  6. Non-Deductible and Part Deductible VAT – Users now have improved VAT functionality with the ability to now configure VAT so that it isn’t deducted from purchases under certain conditions.
  7. Manage BC Users by Azure Security Groups – This feature is a great one for managing permissions. The creation of security groups will allow administrators to group users by department, job function or other criteria and then assign permissions to the group as a whole.
  8. More keyboard Shortcuts to help boost user efficiency.
  9. BC Users can add ANY field to a Page – This feature, which is coming to Business Central in June 2023, will allow users to add any existing table fields to a page.
  10. Master Data Management – This update will be very handy for users who have more than one company set up in the same environment. It allows you to move the set up in one company to another company in the same environment and it also acts as a data synchronisation engine to ensure the data in the companies stays synchronised after the initial move.
